Franciszek Starowieyski * practised graphic design, poster design, drawing, painting, stage designing, book illustration * born 8 July 1930 in Cracow, Poland - died 23 February 2009 in Warsaw * studied at Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow and Warsaw * member of AGI (Alliance Graphique Internationale) * his works in collection of The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), New York * Major awards: Prize of the Year in the 'Best Warsaw Poster' competition in 1970, 1971, 1982; a prize at the 12th Sao Paulo Biennial, 1973; Film poster award, Cannes Film Festival, 1974; Silver Medal at the 5th International Poster Biennale in Warsaw, 1974; Gold Plaque at International Film Festival Chicago, USA, 1979; International Biennale of Poster in Warsaw, Silver Medal in 1978, 2nd prize in 2000.
