Ricciardi, Mirella : Vanishing Amazon

  • description
  • additional information
The photographer, Mirella Ricciardi, travelled deep into the Amazonian jungles where she was able to photograph three remote and little known Indian tribes: the Kampa, the Maruba, and the Yanomami. These haunting and powerful photographs of the Indians during their daily occupation are a portrait of a way of life that has remained literally unchanged for generations. Ricciardi provides a running commentary on her experiences taken from the personal diary she kept during her travels. Marcus Colchester's essay provides an anthropological and historical background and a view of the Indian's future which compliments Ricciardi's strong visual record.
