The very definition of diaspora - which embraces forced exile and voluntary migration - is examined in this atlas with extended coverage of displaced cultures. It follows the diaspora patterns and the history and nature of the Jews, Africans, Chinese, Indian, Irish, Greek, Gypsies, Vietnamese, Koreans, Armenians, Lebanese, and Palestinians. The contributions of early diasporas to globalization as well as the changing and contradictory attitudes of host states and populations, are also explored.
