Born in Austria, Johann Lucas Kracker the painter turned into a citizen of the Hungarian town Eger with an oeuvre spanning over several countries. After a decade of commuting, a prestigious visit in Prague and commissions in Lower Austria, he settled down for life in Eger in 1768. The career of the experienced, well-trained and versatile master is dealt with in six chapters in the present study accompanied by the catalogue of his frescoes, oil paintings, drawings, including each piece of his oeuvre. The German-language book contains 210 black-and-white as well as 65 whole-page colour photos.
