Prof. Fritz Dahn explains in his introduction the importance of advertising posters in the asthetics of the street scene, especially in the context of the GDR (German Dermocratic Republic) and Socialist East Germanym where this book was published. The jury who chose the posters consisted of many acclaimed artists in both graphic design, fine arts and commercial arts.
